Meat Producer Gains Control Over Freezer Blast Cell Doors

The Problem

Doors that separate the loading dock area to the freezer blast cell area are critical to any freezer warehouse operation. These specialty doors must work perfectly to keep the operation running smoothly. However, they can get hit or bumped by fork trucks, damaging the doors so they won’t close properly. And sometimes, if the conditions are just right, the doors will freeze shut and then they have to be defrosted before they can be opened.

Solution Design

4SIGHT Door monitoring of these freezer doors allows warehouse operators to know when a freezer door has been open too long. If a door has been open for more than 60 seconds, an alert is sent to the supervisor to notify them of the freezer door problem. They can then investigate and correct the problem. If an operator button has been pushed to open a freezer door, and the door doesn’t open, an alert is immediately sent to let them know that the door is frozen shut.

Bottom Line

When freezer doors are open too long, they cause problems for the operation. Likewise, when a freezer door is frozen shut, it can indicate a larger problem. 4SIGHT gives the customer the visibility and tools to better manage their freezer doors.
