The Problem
In Canada, the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) requires food warehouses to have a secondary mechanical device on dock doors to make sure they are closed when there is no trailer at the dock door. This customer did not want more mechanical pieces and parts on the dock doors in his new warehouse. That would only increase his maintenance costs and potential downtime.
Solution Design
We designed a security/closed door alert system so that if a door were ever open without a trailer, a security note would pop up on the 4SIGHT main screen. Then the alert would have to be acknowledged by authorized user/password. This process would then date/time stamp the door situation and how fast the door was closed in the 4SIGHT database. Our customer presented 4SIGHT to the CFIA, and the agency accepted it as a viable solution to its “closed door” mandate.
